Lucknow: The Talkatora Police Station Lucknow team has arrested a 19-year-old man involved in a mobile phone snatching incident and recovered the stolen device, officials said on Sunday.
Swift Action Under Anti-Crime Drive
The arrest was made under the ongoing campaign against crime launched under the directions of the Police Commissioner, Lucknow. The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior officers of the West Zone and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Bazarkhala.
The accused has been identified as Jatin Kumar Baheliya, a resident of Wazirbagh area under Sadatganj police station limits, Lucknow. He was arrested by the Talkatora Police Station Lucknow team led by Station House Officer.
Incident Near Clinic in Rajajipuram
According to police, the complainant Alok Kumar Nigam reported that on April 10, 2026, around 8:25 PM, an unknown youth snatched his mobile phone from the upper pocket of his shirt in front of Dr. A.K. Srivastava’s clinic in Rajajipuram Sector-13.
Following the complaint, alert Eagle Mobile personnel Head Constable Anandmani Singh immediately chased the suspect. With the help of police and local residents, the accused was apprehended near Kothari Bandhu Chauraha.
Recovery of Stolen Property
During the search, police recovered a Samsung Galaxy A-06 mobile phone from the possession of the accused, which belonged to the complainant. Based on the recovery, additional legal sections were added to the case.
Modus Operandi and Confession
During interrogation, the accused allegedly admitted that due to financial difficulties, he snatched the mobile phone from a pedestrian near the clinic area while he was walking.
Case Details and Legal Action
A case has been registered as Case Crime No. 75/2026 under Section 304(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), with further enhancement under Section 317(2) following recovery of stolen property.
The accused has been taken into custody and is being produced before the competent court for further legal proceedings.
